I was intrigued in how this juvenile Pied Butcherbird Cracticus nigrogularis
was extracting the Large Bagworm Metura elongatus from its case. A photo of a Bagworm case can be see here: http://www.pbase.com/arthurplottier/image/123002059 The bird selected to bits of braches as a tool in the grevillea left after the pruning and by placing and jamming the case between the sticks extracted the worm from inside. It is a good example that not only apes know how to use "tools" to get the food. Placing the worm on between the sticks ![]() Pulling the worm out of the case ![]() Job done |

I am a photographer with passion for Mother Nature and her conservation.
I was previously involved in Textile Arts and Ceramics using these mediums to show colors and forms in Nature.
For some years now I dedicated my time to Nature photography and whishes you to enjoy and appreciate the scenes, colors and forms in Nature in the same way that he enjoyed them at the time of taking the shots.
The images in the Australian native Flora and Fauna galleries are from shots taken in my Australian native garden designed by my wife and me to create a friendly ecosystem for the local native fauna.
My equipment is based on Nikon D200 and Nikon D300s cameras with several lens.
